HKIC 2007 Records Many Exciting Moments

The annual Hong Kong Inline Cup, co-sanctioned by the Hong Kong, China Inline Hockey association and the Hong Kong Federation of Roller Sports, wrapped up 8 days of intense competition with Hong Kong Dragons pushing for a goal in the final seconds to tie and force OT with Canada's Vancouver Vipers. It was not to be and the home team settled for a Silver Medal, which, given the high standard competition this year, is a significant achievement. Congratulations to Vancouver Vipers who had a fantastic tournament and very deserving CUP Champions this year in the men's division.
Last year's men's champions Australia Flyers had some major bad luck days before the tournament began, loosing their number 1 goal tender to injury. They rebounded after a slow start for a good tournament and finished as PLATE champions in the men's division.
Hong Kong Women's Dragons took gold in the women's division and keep the CUP in Hong Kong for the next 12 months when it will again be up for grabs. Singapore goes home with Silver after a very hard fought final. Hong Kong Phoenix got the bronze medal. Congratulations to all the women's teams for a the show of good hockey.
In the High School division, USA go back to Virginia with gold and silver while Hong Kong Dragons pick up the bronze.
Age groups played intense hockey from early morning to evening for four consecutive days. The finals and medal awards on November 18 saw a lot of gold, silver and bronze awards being draped over the necks of our young champions. Hong Kong got their share of medals in competition with some awesome teams from Taipei, Australia, UK, USA and Korea. You can have a look at all the results by clicking http://www.kpcchk.org/events07HKICMain.asp and exploring the web site where all the statistics and results are listed.
A final thank you to the teams, officials, organizers and all those who supported the 2007 Hong Kong Inline Cup, including a special note of thanks to the Leisure & Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong SAR government for their subvention and also their ongoing encouragement of sport, leisure and culture in our city.
Better get ready for a great one in 2008 - Olympic spirit will be in the air from the north to south and east to west of China, so look forward to something special here in 2008! Until then...keep rolling!!

Hong Kong Takes Silver at Asia Roller Sports Championships

Team Hong Kong Inline Hockey went to Korea on May 9 th ready to compete with the best of Asia at the Asia Roller Sports championships in Jeonju , Korea . Their first match was hours after an early morning arrival and they managed to battle fatigue, strange rink conditions and the team from Iran to gain their first victory. They won another match against Korea later that day, lost to Japan then tied Chinese Taipei. The medal round saw Team Hong Kong get a convincing win over Chinese Taipei to advance to the gold medal round. A spirited game against Japan showed Team Hong Kong's determination but they couldn't defeat a very strong Japanese squad. Still, a silver medal performance at its first major international inline hockey tournament is more than commendable.

Congratulations to our men's team! You brought honour to Hong Kong and our sport!!

Hong Kong, China IHA Holds AGM

The first Annual General Meeting of the Hong Kong, China Inline Hockey Association was held on Friday September 19, 2003.

President David Wong remarked that he was fully aware that inline hockey players would much rather be at the rink working on their game skills rather than meeting over administrative matters. None-the–less, all agreed that it is important for the advancement of our sport to have a properly constituted and managed organization. The reports adopted at the meeting showed just that and more. The IHA not only has an effective administrative system but great support from members and community and quickly developing a track record for excellence in sport development.

The meeting considered and approved the various reports and shared hopes and aspirations for the sport’s development.

Now, back to the rink for training and league action. See you all next year, and in the meantime – “ Keep those Wheels Rollin’”.
