Hong Kong, China Inline Hockey Association Sanctions the Air Canada –

YMCA of Hong Kong Inline Hockey Development Program.

The Board of the HK, China IHA has reviewed the curriculum and materials presented by the YMCA of Hong Kong and agree that the development program is of a high standard and the training will contribute to the abilities of coaches, referees and officials of the sport of inline hockey. The training for coaches includes understanding of rules, discussion on philosophy and approach to coaching, learning and teaching theory and technique, and plenty of examples of training drills and ideas for lessons. The coaches also get to apply their knowledge at the 15-hour course by leading sessions as delegated by the Course Conductor. Referees will receive lots of drilling on the rules and be taught on how to apply them correctly in order to manage the game. The referees will receive ongoing mentoring and coaches have an opportunity to keep up to date and share ideas through a Coaches Corner News, which will be published in the HK, China IHA web site.

Air Canada is sponsoring this program. Master IHA Trainer, Chuck Allison, notes that this is a good relationship not only because of the valuable support that Air Canada can give but because many of our hockey development resources are through our relationships with Canadian hockey organizations and experts. Canada has a long and distinguished record in ice hockey and more recently is applying this knowledge and resources to develop inline hockey.

The level 1 course for coaches is being offered this September and is open to anyone interested to train up for coaching inline hockey. Interested persons should contact HK, China IHA or the YMCA for an application form. Referees and those wishing to train as referees are always welcome. Please contact HK, China IHA secretary Chuck Allison at callison@ymcahk.org.hk for details.
